Job Overview

A leading company in Qatar is seeking an experienced Lead Planning Engineer – Mechanical to support project planning and execution activities. This is an urgent requirement for a professional with extensive experience in planning field erection and fabrication, piping, and structural steel activities.

The successful candidate will contribute to project planning, scheduling, progress monitoring, coordination, and reporting across complex industrial projects. Candidates with experience in Oil and Gas, petrochemical, refinery, fertilizer, NGL, or gas plant projects are particularly relevant for this position.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead project planning activities for field erection and fabrication works.
• Develop, maintain, and monitor detailed project schedules.
• Plan and coordinate piping and structural steel activities.
• Monitor project progress against approved schedules and milestones.
• Coordinate with engineering, construction, fabrication, and project management teams.
• Identify schedule delays, constraints, and potential project risks.
• Prepare project progress reports and planning updates.
• Support development of recovery and mitigation plans for schedule deviations.
• Track project activities and ensure alignment with project execution requirements.
• Maintain accurate planning documentation, schedules, and progress records.
• Participate in project coordination and planning meetings.
• Support project management teams with schedule analysis and planning recommendations.

Requirements & Qualifications

• B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering.
• 12–15 years of professional experience.
• Strong experience in project planning for:
  • Field erection and fabrication
  • Piping
  • Structural steel
• Relevant experience in one or more of the following industries is mandatory:
  • Oil and Gas
  • Petrochemicals
  • Refineries
  • Fertilizer Plants
  • NGL / Gas Plants
• Strong project planning and scheduling knowledge.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
• Ability to coordinate with multidisciplinary engineering and construction teams.
• Strong communication and project coordination skills.
• Experience in industrial project environments is essential.
