Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Resident Engineer – Optical Transmission to supervise optical transport and transmission implementation within live Cable Landing Stations (CLS) and Data Centre environments in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. This is a 12-month on-site contract opportunity requiring a hands-on engineering professional with strong field implementation and contractor/vendor supervision experience.

The successful candidate will oversee installation, testing, acceptance, quality control, and site coordination while ensuring implementation activities are carried out safely without disrupting live services. The role requires strong technical knowledge of fibre infrastructure, ODF/MMR termination, optical testing, site documentation, NCR management, punch-list closure, and MOP/PTW coordination.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise optical transport and transmission implementation within live Cable Landing Stations and Data Centres.
• Oversee contractors and vendors during optical transmission installation and implementation activities.
• Supervise rack and power installation and fibre routing activities.
• Manage ODF and MMR termination activities.
• Perform and coordinate optical testing and acceptance activities.
• Conduct and review OTDR, IL, ORL, CD, PMD, and OSNR testing.
• Raise and manage Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs).
• Drive punch-list closure and ensure outstanding site issues are resolved.
• Prepare detailed site reports and implementation documentation.
• Coordinate Method of Procedure (MOP) and Permit to Work (PTW) activities.
• Ensure implementation activities are executed without impacting live telecommunications services.
• Coordinate with contractors, vendors, project teams, and site stakeholders.
• Monitor implementation quality, testing results, and acceptance requirements.
• Support safe and efficient delivery of optical transmission works within critical infrastructure environments.

Requirements & Qualifications

Experience

• Minimum 8+ years of field experience in optical transmission implementation.
• At least 3+ years of experience supervising contractors and vendors.
• Proven experience working in Cable Landing Station and Data Centre environments.
• Strong hands-on experience with optical transmission implementation and testing.
