Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to support electrical infrastructure and utility projects across the UAE. The role focuses on electrical system design, power system studies, protection coordination, earthing, lightning protection, cable sizing, technical documentation, and compliance with applicable project and authority requirements.

The successful candidate will perform detailed ETAP power system studies, including Load Flow, Short Circuit, Protection, and Arc Flash analysis. The role also requires practical experience with protection relay settings and coordination, unit protection schemes, CYMGRD earthing analysis, lightning protection design, cable calculations, and the review of electrical drawings and engineering documentation.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform power system studies using ETAP, including:
  • Load Flow Analysis
  • Short Circuit Analysis
  • Protection Studies
  • Arc Flash Studies
• Carry out protection relay setting and coordination studies, including unit protection schemes.
• Design and analyze earthing systems using CYMGRD.
• Prepare lightning protection system designs and calculations.
• Perform cable sizing, ampacity, and voltage drop calculations.
• Review and interpret electrical drawings, single-line diagrams, schematics, and cable/equipment schedules.
• Prepare technical calculations, engineering reports, design documents, and authority submissions.
• Coordinate with project teams, clients, consultants, and relevant authorities.
• Ensure electrical designs comply with project specifications and applicable standards.
• Support compliance with UAE electrical standards and authority requirements.
• Provide technical input during project design and engineering activities.
• Maintain accurate engineering documentation and technical reports.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Experience performing power system studies using ETAP.
• Strong knowledge of Load Flow, Short Circuit, Protection, and Arc Flash studies.
• Experience with protection relay settings and coordination.
• Knowledge of unit protection schemes.
• Experience designing and analyzing earthing systems using CYMGRD.
• Experience in lightning protection system design.
• Strong knowledge of cable sizing, ampacity, and voltage drop calculations.
• Ability to interpret electrical drawings, SLDs, schematics, and cable/equipment schedules.
• Experience preparing technical calculations, engineering reports, design documents, and authority submissions.
• Strong analytical, technical reporting, and project coordination skills.
• Knowledge of UAE electrical standards and authority requirements is an added advantage.
