Job Overview

We are seeking a Senior Databricks Specialist / Data Architect to design, implement, optimize, and govern enterprise-scale data platforms using Microsoft Azure Databricks. The role will focus on building high-performance data architectures, developing scalable data pipelines, and ensuring reliable integration between Databricks, Dynamics 365 CRM, APIs, and other enterprise systems.

The successful candidate will contribute to the organization’s data architecture, governance, data quality, security, and performance optimization initiatives. Strong expertise in Apache Spark, PySpark, Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2, SQL, and enterprise data modeling will be essential for delivering robust data solutions.

This is a 12-month extendable contract under Marc Ellis payroll, with the potential for long-term professional development through exposure to enterprise-scale data platforms, advanced cloud technologies, data governance, architecture, and performance optimization.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement enterprise-scale data platforms using Azure Databricks.
• Develop and optimize scalable data pipelines using Apache Spark and PySpark.
• Implement and manage Delta Lake-based data solutions.
• Design and maintain Databricks Medallion Architecture.
• Implement Unity Catalog for data governance, access control, and data lineage.
• Develop data integration solutions connecting Databricks with Dynamics 365 CRM, APIs, enterprise applications, and other data sources.
• Design and implement scalable data models, including dimensional data models.
• Work with Azure Data Factory and Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2.
• Optimize Databricks workloads for performance, scalability, and cost efficiency.
• Establish and maintain data quality and governance standards.
• Implement CI/CD pipelines using Git and Azure DevOps.
• Support deployment automation and enterprise data platform releases.
• Troubleshoot complex production data issues and implement sustainable solutions.
• Work with large-volume enterprise datasets and ensure reliable data processing.
• Collaborate with technical and business stakeholders to deliver enterprise data solutions.

Requirements & Qualifications

Education & Experience

• Minimum 8+ years of experience in data engineering or data architecture.
• Minimum 4+ years of strong hands-on experience with Azure Databricks.
• Extensive experience designing enterprise data platforms and data pipelines.
• Experience working with large-volume enterprise datasets.

Technical Skills

• Strong hands-on experience with Azure Databricks.
• Strong knowledge of Apache Spark and PySpark.
• Strong experience with Delta Lake.
• Strong understanding of Databricks Medallion Architecture.
• Strong experience with Unity Catalog, data governance, access control, and data lineage.
• Advanced SQL skills and large-scale data processing experience.
• Strong experience with Azure data services.
• Experience with Azure Data Factory and Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2.
• Experience integrating Databricks with APIs, CRM platforms, enterprise applications, and other data sources.
• Experience with data modeling and dimensional modeling.
• Strong understanding of data quality and governance.
• Knowledge of performance and Databricks cost optimization.
• Experience with CI/CD, Git, Azure DevOps, and deployment automation.
• Strong production troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities.
