Job Overview

A Safety Officer opportunity is available in Kuwait for experienced Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) professionals to support projects across the Oil & Gas, industrial, and construction sectors. The role requires professionals with relevant HSE experience and recognized safety qualifications appropriate to their educational background and experience level.

Candidates may qualify through either a relevant Bachelor’s degree or Engineering diploma with at least 5 years of relevant HSE experience, or through a high school qualification combined with IOSH or NEBOSH certification and substantial industry experience. Candidates with specialized qualifications in Safety, Environment, Occupational Health, or Industrial Hygiene may be exempt from the IOSH/NEBOSH requirement as specified.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement and monitor HSE procedures across project activities.
• Conduct workplace safety inspections and identify potential hazards.
• Support risk assessments and recommend appropriate control measures.
• Monitor compliance with applicable HSE policies and procedures.
• Promote safe working practices across Oil & Gas, industrial, and construction environments.
• Investigate and report safety incidents and near misses.
• Maintain HSE documentation, inspection records, and reports.
• Conduct or support safety training and awareness programs.
• Monitor the use of appropriate personal protective equipment and safety controls.
• Support environmental and occupational health requirements where applicable.
• Coordinate with project teams to address HSE concerns.
• Support implementation of relevant safety management systems and standards.
• Ensure site activities comply with established safety requirements.

Requirements & Qualifications

Route 1

• Bachelor’s Degree in Science from a recognized university or institute, or
• Diploma in Engineering from a recognized university or institute.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant HSE experience.

Route 2

• High School qualification.
• IOSH or NEBOSH certification.
• Minimum 10 years of total experience, including at least 7 years as HSE personnel in the relevant field.

Required HSE Certifications

Candidates must have successfully completed one or more recognized HSE courses, including:

• NEBOSH
• IOSH
• General Industrial Safety
• Construction Safety
• Environmental Management
• Industrial Hygiene
• ISO 14001 / OHSAS 18001 Lead Auditor
• ASSE Certificate in Global Safety Management
• Equivalent recognized HSE certifications

Additional Requirements

• Degree or diploma should be in a relevant Engineering or Science discipline.
• IOSH/NEBOSH is exempted for candidates with a degree in Safety, Environment, Occupational Health, or Industrial Hygiene.
• Online learning courses are not accepted for the basic educational qualification.
• Distance-learning qualifications require approval from the Kuwait Ministry of Higher Education before KOC acceptance.
