Job Overview

An urgent opportunity is available for an experienced Testing & Commissioning Engineer to support electrical infrastructure and utility projects in Abu Dhabi, UAE. The role focuses on testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and technical documentation for electrical systems and equipment up to 33kV.

The successful candidate will work with HV, MV, and LV systems, switchgear, transformers, power cables, protection systems, RMUs, control panels, CTs, VTs, circuit breakers, and numerical protection relays. The position requires strong practical commissioning experience and the ability to coordinate effectively with project teams, clients, consultants, and TAQA.

Key Responsibilities

• Execute testing and commissioning activities for electrical systems up to 33kV.
• Conduct pre-commissioning and commissioning of switchgear and electrical equipment.
• Test and commission transformers, RMUs, control panels, power cables, CTs, VTs, and circuit breakers.
• Configure, test, and verify numerical protection relays.
• Perform insulation resistance and continuity tests.
• Conduct injection testing and transformer testing.
• Perform electrical cable testing and related commissioning activities.
• Read and interpret single-line diagrams, electrical schematics, and technical specifications.
• Coordinate commissioning activities with project teams, clients, consultants, and TAQA.
• Prepare detailed test reports and commissioning records.
• Maintain technical documentation related to testing and commissioning.
• Ensure compliance with project specifications and IEC standards.
• Follow electrical safety procedures and HSE requirements.
• Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve technical issues during commissioning.
• Support timely completion and handover of electrical infrastructure projects.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• 2–5 years of experience in electrical testing and commissioning up to 33kV.
• TAQA Competency Certificate is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of HV, MV, and LV electrical systems.
• Strong knowledge of switchgear and electrical protection systems.
• Hands-on experience with numerical protection relay testing and commissioning.
• Experience testing and commissioning:
  • Transformers
  • Power cables
  • CTs and VTs
  • Circuit breakers
  • RMUs
  • Control panels
• Ability to read and interpret SLDs, electrical schematics, and technical specifications.
• Good knowledge of IEC standards.
• Knowledge of electrical safety regulations, commissioning procedures, and HSE requirements.
• Strong troubleshooting and technical reporting skills.
• Good communication and coordination skills.
