Job Overview

A contract opportunity is available for an experienced Power BI Developer specializing in data engineering, reporting, and dashboard development within the banking and financial services sector. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of professional experience with strong hands-on expertise in Power BI, SQL-based ETL, data modelling, and financial and transactional datasets.

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and optimizing Power BI dashboards and reports while working with complex banking data. The role requires strong knowledge of DAX, Power Query, SQL/T-SQL, SSIS, data modelling, Row-Level Security, data refresh automation, and report performance optimization.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain Power BI dashboards and reports for banking and financial services requirements.
• Build data transformation and ETL processes using SQL and related technologies.
• Develop optimized SQL queries, stored procedures, and data-processing solutions.
• Create and maintain data models using Star and Snowflake schema approaches.
• Develop DAX calculations and Power Query transformations.
• Manage Power BI Report Server in an on-premise environment.
• Implement and maintain Row-Level Security (RLS).
• Automate data refresh processes and optimize report performance.
• Analyze financial and transactional datasets to support business reporting requirements.
• Collaborate with BI and reporting teams to understand data and reporting requirements.
• Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and reliability across reporting solutions.
• Support continuous improvement of BI dashboards, reporting processes, and data engineering workflows.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of relevant professional experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Analytics, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
• Strong hands-on experience in Power BI dashboard development.
• Advanced knowledge of DAX and Power Query.
• Experience with Power BI Report Server and on-premise environments.
• Strong SQL and T-SQL skills.
• Experience in SQL-based ETL development.
• Strong knowledge of stored procedures and query optimization.
• Experience with SSIS.
• Strong understanding of data modelling, including Star and Snowflake schemas.
• Experience implementing Row-Level Security.
• Experience with data refresh automation and report performance optimization.
• Strong experience analyzing financial and transactional data.
• Significant experience in the Banking or Financial Services sector is essential.
• Experience with SAS for data transformation is an advantage.
• Experience working within structured BI and reporting teams is preferred.
• Omani nationality is preferred.
