Job Overview

Alfanar Projects is seeking an experienced Senior Cost Control Engineer to manage, monitor, and forecast project costs across construction projects in Riyadh. The role is focused on establishing project budgets, tracking actual costs and commitments, monitoring budget changes, and providing reliable cost forecasts to support effective project decision-making.

The successful candidate will work closely with project execution, planning, resources, supply chain, and Finance teams to maintain accurate cost and progress information. Professional development through relevant project controls training and certifications such as CCP or PMP, along with experience in Earned Value Management, can support continued career advancement in cost engineering and project management.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up project cost breakdown structures and budgets in SAP or similar project cost management systems.
• Review project scope and requirements to prepare detailed estimates to complete.
• Track actual costs, commitments, and budget changes throughout the project lifecycle.
• Compare budgeted costs with actual and forecast costs.
• Identify cost overruns and analyse their causes.
• Prepare and regularly update cost forecasts, project cash flows, and cost reports.
• Analyse percentage of completion, project progress, and financial performance.
• Coordinate with project and Finance teams regarding cost and financial information.
• Review proposed budget revisions and reconcile cost figures with Finance.
• Work with project execution, planning, resources, and supply chain teams to obtain accurate cost and progress data.
• Identify cost risks at an early stage and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
• Support cost-saving initiatives while maintaining project requirements and delivery objectives.
• Prepare clear cost reports and dashboards for project teams and management.
• Support project cost performance monitoring and reporting.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering.
• 5–7 years of cost control experience in a large construction or EPC company.
• Hands-on experience with project budget setup, cost tracking, forecasting, and financial reporting.
• Strong understanding of:
  • Estimates to Complete
  • Cash Flow Forecasting
  • Percentage of Completion (POC)
  • Project Cost Performance
• Working experience with SAP PS/CO or a similar project cost management system.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
• Experience with Primavera is an advantage.
• Experience with Power BI is an advantage.
• Ability to clearly explain cost variances.
• Strong collaboration skills with project teams and Finance.
• CCP or PMP certification is preferred.
• Experience with Earned Value Management (EVM) is preferred.
