Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Internal Audit Specialist (UAEN) to support internal audit activities in Abu Dhabi. The position is suitable for professionals with a minimum of five years of experience in internal audit or external audit, with additional experience considered an advantage.

The successful candidate will contribute to audit planning, risk assessment, control evaluation, compliance, and internal audit activities within the organization. Candidates with relevant waste management industry experience may be particularly relevant to the opportunity.

Key Responsibilities

• Support internal audit planning and execution across relevant business functions.
• Conduct audit reviews and evaluate internal controls and business processes.
• Identify potential control gaps, risks, and areas requiring improvement.
• Review business activities for compliance with applicable policies and procedures.
• Prepare audit documentation, working papers, findings, and reports.
• Follow established internal audit methodologies and professional standards.
• Coordinate with relevant departments during audit assignments.
• Communicate audit findings and recommendations to appropriate stakeholders.
• Support follow-up activities to assess the implementation of agreed corrective actions.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of internal controls, risk management, and governance processes.
• Apply professional audit knowledge and relevant certification standards to assigned responsibilities.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience in internal audit or external audit.
• More than 5 years of relevant experience is preferred.
• Relevant experience within the waste management sector is preferred based on the hiring requirements provided.
• Relevant professional certification such as:
  • CIA – Certified Internal Auditor
  • CPA – Certified Public Accountant
  • CRMA – Certification in Risk Management Assurance
  • CFE – Certified Fraud Examiner
  • CISA – Certified Information Systems Auditor
• Strong knowledge of internal audit principles and practices.
• Understanding of risk management, internal controls, governance, and compliance.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent documentation and reporting abilities.
• Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills.
• Ability to work independently and maintain professional audit standards.
