Job Overview

FileCloud is seeking an experienced Senior PHP Backend Developer to join its Growth & Expansion team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The role is focused on developing server-side functionality, extending existing software products, and building scalable cloud-based services for an enterprise-grade file synchronization, sharing, and content governance platform.

The successful candidate will work with technologies including PHP 8.2+, Composer, PHPUnit, MongoDB, NodeJS, AWS, Azure, Git, Memcache, and Solr. The position requires strong backend engineering expertise, object-oriented programming knowledge, experience with client-server architecture, automated testing, REST and web technologies, and the ability to solve complex architectural challenges.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain efficient, reliable, and scalable backend software.
• Extend and enhance existing enterprise software products.
• Develop server-side functionality using modern PHP development practices.
• Solve complex architectural and technical challenges when implementing new features.
• Integrate applications with databases, file systems, and cloud services.
• Work with technologies including PHPStorm, MongoDB, NodeJS, AWS, Azure, Git, Memcache, PHPUnit, and Solr.
• Develop and maintain automated software testing processes.
• Troubleshoot customer-reported issues and develop software patches where required.
• Participate in code reviews and maintain high development standards.
• Collaborate with global engineering teams on product development.
• Share technical knowledge and experience with other engineers.
• Contribute to enterprise application architecture and technical design decisions.
• Use AI coding assistants such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or similar tools for development, code review, debugging, and documentation.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Minimum 4+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Minimum 3+ years of web application development experience.
• Minimum 3+ years of PHP development experience.
• Strong knowledge of automation testing.
• Strong understanding of client-server architecture.
• Strong understanding of object-oriented programming and design patterns.
• Strong knowledge of the PHP ecosystem, including:
  • PHP 8.2+
  • Composer
  • PHPUnit
• Strong understanding of web technologies, including:
  • HTTP
  • XML
  • REST
• Strong written and spoken English communication skills.
• Comfortable using AI coding assistants as part of the daily development workflow.
• Ability to work effectively in a fully office-based environment in Riyadh.

Nice-to-Have Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.
• Knowledge of modern PHP frameworks.
• Experience with enterprise systems architecture, including architecture patterns, eventing, and queues.
• Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases, particularly MongoDB.
• Basic knowledge of JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3.
• Knowledge of CI/CD, preferably Jenkins.
• Experience with Docker, Solr, and Redis.
• Experience with NodeJS, JavaScript, and TypeScript.
