Job Overview

A technology organization is seeking an experienced UNIX/Linux Systems Administrator to support its operations in Bahrain. Key Responsibilities

• Plan and execute operating system upgrades and lifecycle patching across enterprise infrastructure.
• Manage Oracle Solaris 10/11 and enterprise Linux environments, including RHEL and Ubuntu.
• Execute monthly OS patching schedules while maintaining system availability.
• Utilize Solaris Alternate Boot Environments (ABE), pkg, and beadm for Solaris administration.
• Use Linux package management tools including yum, dnf, and apt.
• Plan and execute firmware upgrades for critical infrastructure components.
• Manage BIOS/UEFI, storage controller, HBA, and network interface firmware upgrades.
• Support Oracle/Sun SPARC servers, Dell PowerEdge, and HPE ProLiant systems.
• Isolate, diagnose, and remediate complex physical hardware failures.
• Maintain guest workloads and virtual infrastructure across LDOMs, VMware, KVM, and Hyper-V.
• Perform root-cause analysis during significant hardware and operating system disruptions.
• Troubleshoot switching, routing, VLAN isolation, and other core network infrastructure issues.
• Manage enterprise backup environments using Veeam and OpenText Data Protector.
• Optimize backup jobs and validate backup integrity.
• Conduct bare-metal recovery and verification testing.
• Support infrastructure lifecycle management and continuous service improvement.
• Maintain technical documentation and follow enterprise infrastructure standards.

Requirements & Qualifications

Experience

• 5+ years of professional experience in UNIX/Linux Systems Administration.
• Proven experience with root-cause troubleshooting and infrastructure remediation.
• Experience with OS upgrades, lifecycle patching, and firmware upgrades.
• Experience managing critical enterprise hardware and operating system environments.

Operating Systems

• Oracle Solaris 10/11.
• Solaris SPARC.
• Enterprise Linux distributions, including:
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)
  • Ubuntu
• Experience with Solaris ABE, pkg, and beadm.
• Experience with Linux yum, dnf, and apt.

Virtualization

Engineering-level experience with:

• LDOMs
• VMware
• KVM
• Hyper-V

Hardware & Infrastructure

• Oracle/Sun SPARC servers.
